Our Story
The Almanaque del Futuro as a communication platform was born from deep reflection on the climate crisis and its roots in the current development model. As we informed ourselves and delved into the UN climate negotiations, we realized that the true transformation of our society requires rethinking the approach to a life oriented towards well-being and the common good.
We are convinced that paradigm shifts begin at the grassroots level of society. This motivated us to seek out and document real and inspiring stories from the local level, which demonstrate transformations and changes in the current development paradigms, where the care for life and the prioritization of the common good are paramount.
Through the Almanaque del Futuro, we make these “motivational experiences” visible, convinced that community action promoting local transformations is key to building a future with a future.

Supporting the visions and commitments of Almanaque del Futuro
Council of Complicity
Constantin B.
Constantin is a geographer working on the issues of extractivism and energy transitions in Latin America. From Germany, he collaborates with the Council of Complicity to support Almanaque del Futuro.
I am part of the Council of Complicity to support Almanaque del Futuro's important goal of uncovering treasures in the form of success stories and giving visibility to inspiring people, supporting them in their commitments to change the world. We need ideas and visions of how a fulfilling life without discrimination and marginalization can be, far from dominant paradigms and the logic of growth and economic valorization.
Gregor Schaepers
Gregor's work in the Mezquital Valley in Mexico is an inspiring example of how innovation in energy technologies can revitalize ancient indigenous agriculture and offer solutions to global climate challenges.
I participate in the Council of Complicity because I am committed to reviving and enriching ancestral practices and showcasing them in Almanaque del Futuro. My motivation arises from my concern for the future of our children on this planet and the desire to learn from other innovative projects led by people in Latin America and various parts of the world.
Javier Carrera
Javier Carrera is a long-time permaculturist and one of the founders and leaders of the Seed Guardians Network in Ecuador.
The stories of Almanaque del Futuro pave a path of hope in a world where everyday life can lead to despair. It is a collection of practical experiences that inspire us to build better versions of the future.
Javier Jaramillo
Javier is a sociologist and facilitator with a solid background in peace processes, and he is a valuable companion of the Council of Complicity from Colombia.
Almanaque del Futuro attracts me for its ability to focus on promising signals that already herald a better future from the present. I like it because it allows me to concentrate on the hopeful perspectives that are already germinating and that invite us to dream of a brighter tomorrow. Almanaque del Futuro captivates me because it provides a window into a tomorrow full of possibilities where the seeds of hope are already blooming.
María Fernanda Montoya Rodríguez
María Fernanda is a social communicator and theater artist; she is currently an artistic and content weaver for the Visión Suroeste regeneration movement in Colombia.
I am part of the Council of Complicity of Almanaque because I am convinced that new narratives—those of care, femininity, life, and regeneration—are essential to instill hope and transition to the new realities that humanity urgently needs.
Michelle Ruiz
Michelle has studied social sciences and has traveled across different cultures and continents; her refreshing expertise accompanies the Council of Complicity from Ecuador.
I am convinced that the world is not made of atoms but of stories, as Galeano says. That is why I am deeply moved by the imagination of possible futures and presents that nourishes Almanaque del Futuro.
Monika Hesse
Monika is an agroecologist and founder of the Natural Sanctuary of Cosmogénesis Consciousness in Restrepo, Colombia.
As an agroecologist and founder of Cosmogénesis, I joined the Council of Complicity due to the deep alignment between our objectives. Both initiatives seek to highlight life alternatives that challenge the conventional development model. In the face of the urgency of the socio-environmental crisis, it is vital to share successful yet often invisible experiences to inspire those who wish to build a different future. I consider the role of the council essential as a space for exchanging experiences and knowledge to promote Almanaque del Futuro.
Nicole Maron
Nicole is a Swiss journalist and writer residing in Peru, dedicated to researching socio-environmental and political issues such as mining, deforestation, human rights, and alternative development.
As a member of various networks and working groups in Europe and Latin America, I want to support promoting exchange and mutual learning between the South and the North to drive real changes from civil society. In this context, the Almanaque del Futuro initiative seems important to me not only because it tells stories of hope but also because it is a space for debate where people from different contexts and experiences come together to provide input for a more sustainable and kinder future.
Tania Ricaldi
Tania is a university professor and researcher at the public university in Cochabamba, Bolivia, working on issues related to rural development and liberating economies.
I participate in the Council of Complicity because it allows generating meeting points and establishing connections in different areas and territories on the need to take different paths. It helps to collectively build strategies that address the challenge of societal transformation comprehensively, using complicity as a form of responsible involvement in that transformation.
